National Unity Platform presidential candidate, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, also known as Bobi Wine, has vowed to end Uganda’s era of long-serving presidents, saying President Museveni will be the last leader to rule the country for over 40 years.
Addressing supporters at a campaign rally in Hoima City on Wednesday, Bobi Wine pledged to restore presidential term limits and strengthen democratic governance to ensure peaceful transitions of power in Uganda’s future.
“Museveni is going to be the last dictator Uganda will ever have,” Bobi Wine declared to loud cheers from the crowd.
“We won’t have presidents lasting for over 40 years. We are going to establish term limits and build a Uganda where power belongs to the people.”
Kyagulanyi said his government would focus on rebuilding national institutions, promoting transparency, and safeguarding citizens’ freedoms that have been eroded under decades of single-rule leadership.
Bobi Wine also used the rally to outline his vision for what he called a “New Uganda,” one that prioritizes social services and equal opportunity for all citizens.
“In the new Uganda, all roads will be tarmacked,” he said.
“Education will be free, and children will be offered free food at school. We are going to establish a national school feeding program.”
He emphasized that investing in education and child welfare would be central to his administration’s agenda, arguing that no child should have to study on an empty stomach or drop out due to poverty.
“Education will no longer be a privilege for the few but a right for every Ugandan child,” he said.
Bobi Wine urged Ugandans to unite behind his message of democratic renewal and national transformation, saying the country’s future depends on leadership that respects the will of the people.
“We are fighting for a Uganda that works for everyone not a select few who have captured power for decades,” he said. “This struggle is about freedom, fairness, and the future of our children.”
