Police in Nakaseke District have launched a full-scale investigation into a chilling double murder that claimed the lives of a woman and her three-year-old granddaughter in Wakayamba Village, Kikamulo Sub-county.

The deceased have been identified as Nakato Specioza, a peasant and resident of the area, and her granddaughter Sheilla.

According to police, the incident occurred around 9:00 PM on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, but was only brought to the attention of authorities the following morning.

According to a police report, Specioza’s 17-year-old son, Ssemambo Ibrahim, was sent to Wakayamba Trading Centre to do simple shopping. He returned home to a disturbing scene food boiling unattended outside, no sign of his mother or niece, and the front security lights switched off.

“He entered inside their dwelling house and found clothes scattered and some house properties, money was missing in all places where they keep it.
,” said ASP Twiineamazima Sam, the Savannah Region Police spokesperson.

The teenager’s concern turned to fear when he noticed a stick stained with blood in the house. He quickly alerted a neighbor, Sekibenga, and together they began a search around the homestead.

“They followed drag marks on the ground from the cooking area to a nearby coffee plantation, where the lifeless bodies of Nakato Specioza and her granddaughter were discovered,” ASP Twiineamazima explained.

Police responded immediately after receiving the report, documenting the scene and launching a murder investigation. A canine unit was deployed and led officers to a suspect’s residence.

“We have arrested an individual to assist in investigations, and some exhibits were recovered from the scene,” ASP Twiineamazima confirmed. “The bodies were taken to Nakaseke Hospital for postmortem examinations.”

Police are continuing their inquiries and have promised to release more details as the investigation progresses.

“A case of suspected murder has been registered, and we are committed to uncovering the truth and ensuring justice is served,” added ASP Twiineamazima.

The community remains in shock as authorities work to unravel the mystery behind the brutal killings.
