Lawyer Luyimbazi Elias Nalukoola notified the Court of Appeal of his intent to appeal against a lower court’s decision to throw him out of parliament as Kawempe North MP.
The High Court in Kampala on Monday afternoon ruled that there was violation of electoral laws during the Kawempe North byelection in March when he campaigned during the polling day but also disenfranchisement of several voters which affected the outcome of the byelection.
Court consequently kicked Nalukoola out of parliament and order a fresh election.
However, in a notice of appeal filed on Monday afternoon, Nalukoola through lawyers of Nyanzi, Kiboneka & Mbabazi Advocates, PACE Advocates, and Alaka & Co. Advocates indicated that he would appeal against the High Court’s decision.
“Take notice that the applicant(Nalukoola) is dissatisfied with the judgement of Justice Bernard Namanya from the High Court of Uganda , Civil Division on May, 26, 2025 , intends to appeal to the Court of Appeal , the judgement passed against the appellant,”Nalukoola’s notice of appeal says in part.
