Omukama Edward Rukidi Kijanangoma Nyabongo has retained Armstrong Calvin Rwomiire as Prime Minister (Omuhikirwa) of the Tooro Kingdom as the institution begins a transition into the new reign.
Rwomiire has been granted a six-month extension to oversee the transition from the previous administration and ensure continuity in the day-to-day running of the Kingdom.
Charles Kamurasi has also been retained as Omusuuga, while Omubiito Kato Rwakatale will continue serving as Assistant Musuuga.
The appointments were confirmed on Monday evening by the Omukama’s Principal Personal Assistant and Spokesperson, Paul Nyakaana Akiiki, during a brief press conference held at Karuziika Palace.
The King has also appointed an 11-member Advisory Committee to support him during the transition and provide counsel on matters concerning the Kingdom.
The committee comprises Muzei Erisa Kakyomya, Peace Mutuuzo, Bernard Tungakwo, Amooti Chris Kaijua, Kasojo Binta Rosalia Achaali, William Byaruhanga, Msgr. Isaiah Mayombo, Abdullah, Flavia Kabahenda Rwabuhoro, Aston Kajara and Monica Rubombora.
The appointments come shortly after Nyabongo was installed as the new Omukama of Tooro, succeeding the late Omukama Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV.
