Makindye West MP Allan Ssewanyana has confirmed that he will seek re-election in the 2026 parliamentary elections.
He made the announcement on Wednesday during a thanksgiving Mass held at Nsambya Gardens, led by Fr. Joseph Kasasa.
Ssewanyana, who has served two terms in Parliament, was denied the NUP flag, which was instead given to Zahara Luyirika.
Ssewanyana said he could not ignore the overwhelming calls from his supporters to return to the ballot.
“It’s unfortunate that even after answering all the vetting questions well and having strong support on the ground, my party did not give me the card. To this day, I have never seen the results to know where I failed,” he said, expressing disappointment with the National Unity Platform (NUP) vetting committee.
He, however, remained tight-lipped about the political vehicle he will use, only assuring his supporters of his definite return to the race.
“I want to assure you, my supporters, that I will stand again for Makindye West MP. I won’t tell you now how, but be assured that I am coming back.”
In his homily, Fr. Kasasa cautioned politicians against abusing power and urged them to serve the people with integrity and humility.
The thanksgiving event drew a massive crowd of supporters, signaling strong grassroots backing for Ssewanyana ahead of the 2026 polls.
