Parliament has interdicted its Director of Communications and Public Affairs, Chris Obore, alongside six other senior officials following a directive from the Inspector General of Government (IGG), Lady Justice Naluzze Aisha Batala, as they face prosecution over alleged corruption-related offences.
The interdictions are in line with the IGG’s directive issued pending the conclusion of criminal proceedings before the Anti-Corruption Court.
The other officials affected are Director of Human Resource Daniel Adilo, Principal Research Officer Rajab Kaaya Ssemalulu, Principal Protocol Officer Emmanuel Emuron Okwi, Capacity Development Officer Vincent Otebata, Executive Secretary in the Office of the Speaker Leonard Okema, and Office Supervisor in the Office of the Sergeant-at-Arms Stella Itute.
Six of the officials are currently on remand at Luzira Prison after they were arraigned before the Anti-Corruption Court on July 1, 2026.
They are facing charges of embezzlement, money laundering and causing financial loss, contrary to Sections 18(a)(i) and (ii), and 19(1) of the Anti-Corruption Act, Cap. 116.
Stella Itute, who was jointly charged with the other officials by the Inspectorate of Government, remains at large.
The Anti-Corruption Court has scheduled September 9, 2026, to deliver a consolidated ruling on the bail applications filed by the six remanded officials.
