Police have unveiled a comprehensive traffic management plan ahead of the ongoing National Resistance Movement (NRM) Delegates Conference at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds, which is running from 18th to 28th August 2025.
The conference, drawing participants from across the country, is expected to affect normal traffic flow around Kololo. Police say the plan is designed to ensure smooth movement of vehicles, enhance security, and reduce congestion in surrounding areas.
According to SP Michael Kananura, Public Relations Officer, Directorate of Traffic and Road Safety, the main route to the venue will be via Ssezibwa – Golf Course/Fairway – Kololo Ceremonial Grounds, while several other roads will remain open to normal traffic.
“John Babiiha Road (Acacia Avenue) and Jinja Road, Acacia Road to Golf Course remain open to motorists. However, Lower Kololo Terrace and Upper Kololo Terrace are cut off for vehicles coming from Lugogo. Drivers are advised to use Archer Road to access Jinja Road,” SP Kananura explained.
Other restricted points include Wampewo Avenue, which will be closed at Housing Finance Bank Kololo Traffic Lights, with access reserved for VVIPs only.
Police have designated specific parking areas for different categories of participants: VVIPs: Access through the Eastern Gate via Wampewo Avenue and park inside Kololo Ceremonial Grounds, Other Delegates: Park at City High School or Hotel Africana.
“We urge the public and participants to follow directions from traffic and security officers on duty. Exercise patience and discipline to ensure a successful and peaceful event. Adhere strictly to parking designations and route diversions. Plan your journeys in advance to avoid inconveniences,” SP Kananura added.
Police say the measures are part of ongoing efforts to ensure safety and smooth movement during major national events, emphasizing the importance of public cooperation.
