Police have arrested three suspected boda boda thieves and recovered 10 stolen motorcycles following an intelligence-led operation in Kampala.
The arrests stem from a case of aggravated robbery reported on February 13, 2026, at about 10:00pm. The victim, identified as Equiam Ssesanga, was reportedly attacked and robbed of his motorcycle, registration number UMA 191 DV, a Bajaj Boxer.
According to police, the attackers were allegedly armed with pangas and forcefully took off with the motorcycle.
Security operatives later tracked down the suspects to the Old Kampala–Bukesa–Nankulabye area, where they were arrested.
During the operation, police also recovered 10 suspected stolen motorcycles.
Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson SP Rachael Kawala confirmed both the arrests and the recovery.
“On 13/02/2026 at about 2200 hours, Ssesanga Equiam reported a case of aggravated robbery involving his motorcycle, registration UMA 191 DV (Bajaj Boxer). The attackers, allegedly armed with pangas, forcefully robbed him of the motorcycle. The suspects were arrested from Old Kampala, Bukesa–Nankulabye, where 10 suspected stolen motorcycles were also recovered,” SP Kawala said.
She added that during interrogation, the suspects reportedly confessed to involvement in motorcycle robberies, highway phone snatching, housebreaking, theft and related criminal activities.
The recovered motorcycles include UDH 516H, UGB 248V, UEV 046C, UDH 746H, UDK 657F, UDN 001C, and four numberless Bajaj motorcycles.
Police said investigations are ongoing to identify additional victims and ensure the recovered motorcycles are returned to their rightful owners.
