The Uganda Police Force has launched another phase of its welfare enhancement programme with the distribution of chicks to families of police officers across several barracks.
Spouses of officers residing in Kira Road, Kireka, Nsambya, Old Kampala, Jinja Road, Masaka and Gulu barracks received chicks on Monday as part of an ongoing initiative aimed at boosting household income and improving family wellbeing.
The programme is coordinated by the Directorate of Welfare and Production, which says the intervention is intended to help families establish small-scale income-generating projects.
The latest handover was presided over by SSP Godwin Ochaki, Head of Production under the Directorate of Welfare, Production and Sports, at Police Headquarters.
Ochaki encouraged the beneficiaries to take full advantage of the support, noting that such projects can significantly strengthen household resilience and expand economic opportunities for officers’ families.
The recipients expressed appreciation and pledged to use the chicks to build sustainable ventures within their homes.
This initiative is part of a broader police welfare strategy aimed at promoting self-reliance and improving the living standards of officers’ families across the country.
