Police at Nsangi have made a breakthrough in a motorcycle theft case dating back to 2022, recovering the stolen motorcycle and arresting three suspects in Buwali Cell, Kyengera Town Council, Wakiso District.
The breakthrough came on August 31, 2026, at about 9:00am when police recovered a Bajaj Boxer motorcycle, registration number UDF 719Q, which had reportedly been stolen from a victim in Buwali Cell in 2022.
The motorcycle was allegedly found in the possession of Ssemanda Ronald, 45, a resident of Buwali Cell.
“During the subsequent police inquiries, Ssemanda led police officers to his accomplices, who are said to have sold the motorcycle to him. This resulted in the arrest of two additional suspects and the recovery of several other motorcycles, motorcycle frames, engines and assorted motorcycle spare parts,” Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson, Racheal Kawala said.
She said following Ssemanda’s arrest, two more suspects, Byekwaso Gitta, 48, a resident of Kyambaazi Cell, and Yiga Juma, 25, of Kitemu Cell, all in Kyengera Town Council were also apprehended.
Kawala said subsequent investigations produced a further breakthrough, with police recovering several other motorcycles, motorcycle frames, engines and assorted spare parts.
The recovered motorcycles include UED 757A, a Yamaha Mate; UDA 599X, a Jagwa; UDA 841L, a Mate; UDB 031Y, a Mate; UEE 408V, a Mate; UDD 224V, a Mate; UDB 475N, a Mate; UEC 006Z, a Yamaha; UDX 927N, a Bajaj; UDC 132U, a Mate; and UG 0701E.
Police also recovered three Mate motorcycle frames, two motorcycle engines and assorted motorcycle spare parts.
“The suspects are currently in police custody as investigations into the matter continue.”
