Police have confirmed the death off SP Musa Walugembe, a 45-year-old senior officer, who was found dead in his home in Najjanankumbi, Kampala, in the early hours of Tuesday, September 3, 2025.
According to the police, information about Walugembe’s death was received at around 12:09 AM, prompting officers to rush to the scene.
The officer, who lived alone, had locked himself inside the house, forcing police to break the door shutter to gain access.
Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson SSP Patrick Onyango said statements from witnesses were recorded and the scene was examined before the body was taken to Mulago City Mortuary for a postmortem examination.
“Preliminary findings show no injuries or abrasions on the body. Neighbors, however, reported that the late had recently complained of chest pain,” Onyango noted.
Walugembe was last seen alive on Saturday, August 30, just days before his sudden death. Police say the postmortem report will establish the actual cause of death.
The Uganda Police Force extended its condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of the late officer.
“We pray that they find strength and peace during this difficult time,” Onyango said.
