The Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development has revealed that government plans to spend Shs72.429 billion on internet services in the 2026/27 financial year, with the Uganda Police Force taking the biggest share.
According to the Second Budget Call Circular issued by the Secretary to the Treasury, Ramathan Ggoobi, Uganda Police Force is projected to spend Shs42.036 billion on internet services — more than half of the total planned expenditure.
The Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs is expected to spend Shs3.260 billion, while the Judiciary of Uganda has budgeted Shs3.181 billion for internet services.
Other major spenders include the Ministry of Works and Transport with Shs2.269 billion and the National Information Technology Authority-Uganda which has allocated Shs2.267 billion.
The Uganda Revenue Authority has earmarked about Shs901 million for internet consumption.
The circular also shows that State House Uganda plans to spend Shs211.8 million, while the Office of the President Uganda has allocated Shs412.5 million.
The Ministry of ICT and National Guidance intends to spend Shs563.8 million.
Meanwhile, the Parliamentary Commission Uganda has set aside Shs394 million, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions Shs613.9 million, and the Ministry of Finance itself Shs795.1 million.
On the lower end, some government institutions have minimal internet budgets. Nebbi General Hospital has allocated Shs1.78 million, Kyenjojo Hospital Shs1.80 million, and the Uganda Development Corporation Shs1.99 million.
The budget details are part of government preparations for the 2026/27 financial year, guiding Ministries, Departments and Agencies on their spending priorities.
