Police have arrested six suspects during an operation targeting shops dealing in suspected stolen motor vehicle spare parts at Kisekka Market in central Kampala.
The operation was conducted on March 5, 2026, between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. by officers from the Uganda Police Force attached to Jinja Road Police Station.
According to police spokesperson Rachael Kawala, the operation targeted shops suspected of dealing in stolen motor vehicle parts within the busy spare-parts market.
“Police at Jinja Road Police Station conducted an operation in the Kisekka area of Central Division in Kampala District targeting shops suspected of dealing in stolen property,” Kawala said.
During the operation, police arrested six suspects who were allegedly found in possession of suspected stolen motor vehicle parts.
A search conducted in their shops led to the recovery of several items believed to be linked to vehicle theft.
“Several exhibits were recovered to aid ongoing investigations. These included old vehicle grilles, side mirrors, motor vehicle number plates, spotlights, headlamps and baby side mirrors,” Kawala said.
Police added that the suspects have since been charged with receiving and retaining suspected stolen goods. They are currently detained at Jinja Road Police Station pending prosecution.
