The Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited (UEDCL) has informed its customers that there will be a planned power shutdown today, Friday, 29 August 2025, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The shutdown is to allow UEDCL’s supplier, the Uganda Electricity Transmission Company Limited (UETCL), to safely carry out critical maintenance works at Namungoona Substation.
Affected areas include Namungoona, Nansana, Kigobe, Lubya Hill, Natalia Stage, Lugala, Kosovo, Masanafu TC, Kaye Zone, Namungoona National Housing Flats, Orthodox Church & Hospital, Kavule, Munaku TC, Nabulagala, Kasubi Tombs, Jenina, NWSC Treatment Plant- Lubigi, Kibwa, Nabweru, Kyebando, Kabulengwa, Bujjuko, Kigoma, Ganda, Kabumbi, Ivory Hotel, Yesu Amala, Bukulugi, Kinonya, and Lusaze.
Jonan Kiiza, Head of Corporate & Stakeholder Affairs at UEDCL, expressed regret for the inconvenience, stating:
“Any inconvenience caused is highly regretted.”
UEDCL urged residents and businesses in the affected areas to make necessary arrangements to mitigate disruptions during the maintenance period.
