The Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited (UEDCL) has extended its WETEREZeeee campaign to December 31, 2025, giving illegal power user more time to normalize their connections and avoid penalties or prosecution.
The campaign, which was initially launched on July 23, 2025, was first expected to close on September 30, but due to its steady progress, the Minister of Energy and Mineral Development extended it to October 31.
UEDCL has now pushed the deadline further to the end of December to allow more consumers to take advantage of the amnesty.
“This campaign provides electricity users with direct supply, bypassed, or tampered meters the opportunity to voluntarily regularize their connections without penalties,” the Energy Minister said earlier this month, urging the public to make use of the extension.
In a new statement, UEDCL said: “The WETEREZeeee campaign has been extended to December 31, 2025, at 5 PM. This is to provide consumers who have not normalized their electricity connections another chance to act.”
Registration, according to UEDCL, is entirely free and can be completed through the official website at uedcl.co.ug/WETEREZeeee/.
Recent statistics from the utility company show that more than 22,900 Ugandans have already voluntarily reported and regularized their illegal or tampered electricity connections without facing penalties.
UEDCL encouraged more consumers to take advantage of the extended deadline, warning that enforcement and prosecution measures will resume immediately after the grace period expires.
