Uganda Airlines has announced the launch of scheduled direct flights to Accra, , and Kigali,  in a move aimed at expanding its African network and boosting trade, tourism and investment across the continent.

The new routes, announced on August 5, 2026, expand the national carrier’s destination network while providing passengers with more convenient travel options and strengthening Entebbe International Airport’s position as a regional aviation hub.

According to Uganda Airlines, the introduction of the Accra and Kigali services will enhance connectivity for both business and leisure travellers, while offering seamless onward connections to destinations across Africa, Asia, the Middle East and Europe through Entebbe.

The airline said the new Accra route reinforces its presence in West Africa following the success of its Lagos service.

“Accra strengthens Uganda Airlines’ presence in West Africa, building on the success of the Lagos route. As a strategically important business, tourism and diplomatic hub, this service complements the airline’s regional growth strategy while opening more travel opportunities through its hub at Entebbe International Airport,” the airline said.

Meanwhile, the Kigali route is expected to deepen ties between Uganda and Rwanda by linking two of East Africa’s fastest-growing economies.

Uganda Airlines noted that the service will facilitate seamless travel between major commercial and tourism centres while enabling passengers to connect through Entebbe to its wider international network.

Commenting on the expansion, Uganda Airlines Chief Executive Officer Ato Girma Wake described the launch as another milestone in the airline’s growth strategy.

“The launch of Accra and Kigali marks another key milestone in Uganda Airlines’ growth strategy. As Africa’s connectivity continues to grow, these routes will strengthen commercial and tourism links while offering our guests greater convenience and more travel choices. We remain committed to connecting Africa and supporting regional integration through reliable and efficient air transport,” Wake said.

Uganda Airlines flights to  Accra  will be starting on 27 October 2026, operating four times a week  while flights to Kigali will start on November, 18, 2026, operating daily.

Beyond passenger services, the airline said the new routes will also strengthen its cargo operations by providing exporters and importers with more efficient access to markets in West and East Africa.

The carrier expects the services to facilitate the transportation of fresh agricultural produce, manufactured goods and other time-sensitive cargo, further supporting regional trade.

Uganda Airlines said the latest expansion reflects its continued investment in building a connected African route network that supports economic growth and regional integration.

The national carrier, which resumed commercial operations in August 2019, now operates scheduled international flights to 16 destinations across Africa, Asia, the Middle East and Europe.
