The Uganda Police Force has announced a nationwide recruitment drive targeting 434 drivers for various vehicle categories.

The new recruits will serve as Probationer Police Constables responsible for logistics support, vehicle maintenance, and personnel transportation according to a public announcement by the Director of Human Resource Management, AIGP Jesse Kamunanwire.

The recruitment aims to boost the Police transport and logistics department, with positions allocated as follows: five for light trucks, 30 for heavy commercial trucks, 10 for buses, five for coasters, 10 for minibuses, 364 for light 4×4 vehicles, and 10 for construction equipment.

The successful applicants will be enlisted as Probationer Police Constables and will be tasked with duties including vehicle maintenance, safe transportation of personnel and supplies, and any other responsibilities assigned by their superiors.

Eligibility Criteria:
Applicants must:

  • Be Ugandan citizens with valid National Identification Numbers (NIN).

  • Have a Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) or its equivalent.

  • Possess a valid driving permit for the specific vehicle class with at least three years of driving experience.

  • Be physically and medically fit, ready to undergo 12 months of police basic training.

  • Be prepared to work long hours in challenging environments across any part of the country.

  • Have no criminal record and must not be former or serving members of any security force.

  • Demonstrate good communication skills.

Application Process:
Candidates must submit handwritten applications addressed to the Inspector General of Police (IGP), accompanied by:

  • A photocopy of their UCE certificate,

  • A valid driving permit,

  • Three recent passport-sized photos,

  • A copy of their National ID,

  • Recommendation letters from LCI, LCIII, and the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of their district of residence.

All applications must be submitted in a file folder to the nearest Police District or Divisional Headquarters by July 4, 2025. Only shortlisted applicants will be contacted for interviews on dates to be announced later.

The Police cautions against impersonation and submission of forged documents, warning that such actions will lead to arrest and prosecution. Female applicants are strongly encouraged to apply as part of the force’s commitment to gender inclusion.
