Uganda has launched a fresh tourism drive targeting the Turkish travel market by hosting top digital influencers and tour operators from Türkiye for a week-long familiarization trip aimed at promoting Uganda’s unique attractions.
Organized by the Embassy of Uganda in Ankara, the Familiarization (FAM) Trip seeks to position Uganda as a preferred destination for Turkish tourists through digital storytelling and influencer marketing.
Speaking to the media on Sunday, Uganda’s Ambassador to Türkiye, Nusura Tiperu, described the visiting group as some of the most influential digital personalities in Türkiye, whose voices, images, and narratives resonate with millions worldwide.
“These are not just tourists; they are photographers, videographers, bloggers, and social media personalities who have traveled extensively and have the power to influence travel trends globally,” Ambassador Tiperu said.
“This familiarization trip is not simply a tour; it is an invitation to experience Uganda as our people live it—rich in nature, alive with culture, and filled with opportunity. It is a demonstration of the friendship between Uganda and Türkiye, and of the boundless potential we can unlock together,” she added.
Tiperu called on the influencers to leverage their creativity and authenticity to showcase Uganda’s natural beauty, cultural heritage, and warm hospitality to the world.
“As influencers, your platforms are powerful. Through your lenses and voices, the world will come to see Uganda in new and compelling ways. We are counting on your creativity, your authenticity, and your storytelling to shine a light on what makes Uganda truly unique,” she said.
Senior Presidential Advisor on Tourism, Lily Ajarova, described the initiative as a significant step in tourism diplomacy, emphasizing the growing importance of digital storytelling in shaping travel perceptions and expanding Uganda’s tourism reach.
“This familiarization trip is a bridge between cultures, a catalyst for tourism diplomacy, and a bold step toward unlocking new markets for Destination Uganda,” Ajarova stated.
She noted that Uganda’s appeal lies in its unrivaled biodiversity and cultural heritage.
“Uganda is a country of unmatched biodiversity and authentic cultural richness. From the thunderous Murchison Falls to the quiet majesty of our Mountain Gorillas, from our vibrant cities to our sacred heritage sites—Uganda is not just a destination; it is a discovery,” she said.
Ajarova also highlighted the government’s commitment to tourism as a driver for economic growth, conservation, and community development.
“We are a young and energetic nation with a clear vision—to grow tourism into a transformative engine for economic development, jobs, conservation, and community well-being. This vision is outlined in our national strategies and is being implemented with targeted investments in tourism infrastructure, conservation, and international partnerships,” she explained.
Uganda’s latest campaign underscores the country’s strategy to diversify its tourism markets and attract new visitors through digital platforms and international collaborations.
