The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has directed all heads of examination centres to display the 2025 candidates’ registers in conspicuous places at their schools and district headquarters for public viewing.
The registers will be open for scrutiny from August 10th to October 10th, 2025.
UNEB Executive Director, Mr. Dan Odongo, said the exercise is meant to give parents, candidates and school administrators ample time to confirm registration details and address any errors before the national examinations begin.
“The mandatory period of display of registers is from 10th August to 10th October, 2025. This is important to avoid unfortunate scenarios where students are discovered unregistered at the start of the examination period,” Mr. Odongo explained.
He cautioned parents whose children study in schools without UNEB centre status to confirm where their learners have been registered, noting that cases of learners showing up unregistered during exams have previously caused distress.
In case of any discrepancies, UNEB advised schools and parents to seek corrections within the display period.
For PLE adjustments, schools are required to fill amendment forms on the UNEB portal, while for UCE and UACE levels, amendment request letters must be sent to UNEB with supporting documents such as national identity cards or birth certificates.
The examination body has also introduced an SMS verification system for candidates’ registration.
Parents and candidates can send an SMS to 6600 by typing REG, leaving a space, and then entering the candidate’s full index number to confirm registration status.
Mr. Odongo reminded school heads, parents and candidates to check for accuracy in details such as spelling of names, order of names, date of birth, gender, photographs, subjects and papers registered for.
“It is the responsibility of Heads of Centres, candidates and parents to critically analyse the registers and confirm the accuracy of the candidates’ biodata,” he said.
He added that the exercise must be conducted in line with the Personal Data Privacy and Protection Act, ensuring only relevant data is displayed.
For inquiries and guidance, UNEB has provided multiple contact lines including 041-777-3100, 0312-206-300, toll free number 0800-111-427, and mobile customer care lines.
Mr. Odongo commended all stakeholders for their role in the registration process.
“I would like to commend the candidates, parents, heads of centres, teachers and inspectors of schools for successfully participating in the registration process. Let us now use the registers to ensure that the data submitted is accurate,” he said.
The display of registers is one of UNEB’s key measures to strengthen transparency and accountability ahead of the 2025 examinations cycle.
