Uganda Premier League side, NEC FC has announced the suspension of head coach Hussein Mbalangu with immediate effect, over professional and ethical misconduct.
In a statement , the club confirmed that his assistant James Odoch will take over as interim head coach while the suspension is in effect.
No further details were provided regarding the nature of the misconduct.
However, a source close to the team told UG Bulletin that Mbalangu has been suspended for two months following his involvement with Ssingo in the 2025 Buganda Masaza Cup.
The suspension comes after a series of disappointing results for NEC FC, including a weekend draw against Police FC.
Last week, NEC was also eliminated from the CAF Confederation Cup by Nairobi United.
Our source revealed that the management cited concerns over Mbalangu’s divided focus, as he also serves as one of the coaches for Ssingo, a team that has qualified for the 2025 Masaza Cup finals.
