Vivo Energy Uganda has officially commissioned the new Shell Mawanda Road station in Kampala, a site designed to deliver cleaner energy, modern convenience, and an enhanced customer experience.
The launch marks the fourth Shell station opened in 2025 and brings the company’s network past 195 sites nationwide. The station features Shell’s refreshed visual identity, which prioritizes clearer navigation, more comfortable spaces, and a consistent experience across all locations.
Mawanda Road stands out as Uganda’s first Shell station with a fully solar-powered canopy, capable of running key operations on clean energy for up to six hours daily.
Joanita Menya Mukasa, Managing Director of Vivo Energy Uganda, said the station reflects the company’s commitment to greener, more efficient operations.
“Shell Mawanda Road introduces a new standard of modern convenience and sustainability, featuring our first-ever solar-powered canopy capable of meeting the station’s energy needs,” she said. Mukasa added that attention to detail ensures a smoother, safer, and more comfortable customer journey.
Carol Chen, Shell’s Senior Vice President for Global Marketing and Licensed Markets, praised Vivo Energy Uganda’s continued expansion and its partnerships with brands like Java House and KFC.
“Delivering the best quality products, service, and customer experience is our shared commitment,” she said, applauding the teams behind the new station.
Hans Paulsen, Vivo Energy Group Executive Vice President for East Africa, highlighted that the Mawanda Road station enhances motorists’ overall experience, offering more than just fuel.
“This station provides a complete experience—quality fuel, food, retail products, and family-friendly amenities. We thank the Government of Uganda for creating an enabling environment for investment and growth,” he said.
The station is set to serve thousands of motorists daily, combining modern facilities, sustainable energy solutions, and an elevated customer experience.
