Police in Masaka have arrested a 34 year old woman for feeding her friend’s baby with faeces and urine.
Stella Namwanje, a resident of Binyonyi A village in Nyendo-Mukungwe, Masaka City was arrested after a a disturbing video in which she was captured defecating and urinating before forcing the baby to eat the waste went viral on social media.
According to one of the neighbours, when she saw the video in Namwanje’s phone, she forwarded it to herself but feared to make it viral.
However, when she showed the video to a mobile money agent, he was shocked and asked that the video is shared to him so that he makes it viral for Namwanje to be arrested.
On Sunday, Namwanje was arrested and according to Masaka region police spokesperson, Twaha Kasirye, the arrest followed a tip off from one of the locals.
“The suspect is currently detained at Masaka CPS and will be charged with child torture,” Kasirye said.
However, at police, Namwanje admitted feeding her friend’s child with urine and faeces but said she doesnt know what had come over her mind.
She regretted her actions.
“I keep asking myself why I did it.The child’s mother is my friend, and I have no issues with her,”Namwanje said.
She also admitted recording the viral video but said she never circulated it.
Olivia Mbabazi, the baby’s mother, also a friend to the suspect said he was shocked when she saw the video.
Mbabazi explained that she always left her baby with Namwanje whenever she went for work.
” I never imagined she could have such intentions. I don’t know whether she has been doing it or it was the first time.”
