Police in Mukono District have arrested three suspected armed robbers and shot one during an intense overnight pursuit following a string of violent attacks across multiple villages in Goma Division and parts of Wakiso District.
According to authorities, the gang armed with pangas launched their robbery spree at around 3:00AM on July 27, 2025, starting in Nabweru before moving through Kyaliwajjala and Sonde in Wakiso, and eventually targeting residents in Seeta Town, Mukono.
One of the suspects reportedly admitted to the group’s movements and crimes in the various locations. On their return journey toward Nabweru, the gang struck again at Namanve Industrial Park along the Kampala–Jinja highway.
Their luck ran out when boda-boda riders who witnessed the robbery began chasing them and alerted officers from the Namanve Coca-Cola police post. The police joined the pursuit and managed to trace the suspects to a location behind KAWACOM Company within the industrial park.
During the arrest operation, one of the suspects, identified as Nsubuga, reportedly attempted to attack an officer with a panga. In response, he was shot and incapacitated in the waist and leg. He was later rushed to hospital for medical treatment.
Two other suspects Asimwe Stephen (26) and Musinga Musa (22) were arrested.
A search conducted on Asimwe Stephen led to the recovery of three pangas and a motorcycle bearing registration number UGG 597Y. Police also recovered three smartphones suspected to have been stolen.
Investigations into the full extent of the gang’s activities are ongoing as police commend the swift action of the community and officers involved.
