Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited (UEDCL) is encouraging customers to take advantage of its WETEREZeeee campaign, which allows residents with illegal connections, tampered meters, or bypassed power lines to formalize their electricity access.
The initiative offers a unique opportunity to legalize connections and avoid future penalties.
Residents can apply for meter replacements and connection formalization either online or in person. For online applications, UEDCL has set up a dedicated portal at uedcl.co.ug/weterezeeee, with an alternative link at selfservicepro.uedcl.co.ug for new connections. Customers are required to complete the application form, providing accurate details of their premises and connection. UEDCL recommends online registration as the fastest and most convenient option.
Those who prefer to apply in person can visit any UEDCL office in their locality. At the offices, staff are available to assist residents with registration, ensuring that applications are properly submitted and that customers avoid penalties or prosecution for previous illegal electricity usage.
Applicants are expected to provide key documents to complete the registration process. These include a National ID, a recommendation letter from the Local Council (LC1) chairperson, and a map of the premises.
Additionally, a certified wireman, locally known as a Power Kapo, must inspect the premises and provide a wiring certificate confirming the safety and compliance of the electrical installation.
UEDCL has set up toll-free lines for customers who require guidance or have questions about the process. These include 0800 203 088, 0800 285 285, and 0800 385 385.
The campaign, originally set to end on September 30, 2025, was extended to December 31, 2025, giving residents additional time to regularize their connections.
Residents are urged to take advantage of this campaign to ensure uninterrupted electricity service and compliance with regulations.
The WETEREZeeee initiative is part of UEDCL’s broader efforts to promote legal, safe, and reliable electricity connections across Uganda.
