Police in Luwero District have arrested a farm worker and two others and recovered 68 stolen cattle in Kigumbya Village, Kamira Sub-County.
The arrests were made in the early hours of March 31, 2026, at around 1:00am, following intelligence that the suspects were transferring the animals to a potential buyer.
Savannah Regional Police spokesperson, Sam Twiineamazima, said a police team was quickly deployed after receiving the tip-off.
“We received credible intelligence that a group of suspects was in the process of transferring the stolen cattle to a potential buyer. Acting swiftly on this information, a police team was deployed to the area,” Twiineamazima said.
The suspects were found in possession of the animals and arrested on the spot.
They have been identified as Fred Kayima, a farm worker, Muzafaru Kasenge, 25, a boda boda rider, and Henry Ssemwanga, 24, all residents of Kabunyata Zone in Kamira Town Council.
According to police, the cattle had been stolen from a nearby farm, and the farm manager identified Kayima Fred as one of the workers involved in the theft.
Police say the suspects are believed to be part of a wider cattle theft group operating in Kamira and surrounding areas.
All 68 cattle were recovered and are being held as exhibits, while the suspects remain in custody as investigations continue.
Twiineamazima added that operations are ongoing to arrest more suspects linked to the crime.
