The High Court in Mpigi has ordered newly elected Mawokota North MP Amelia Kyambadde to appear in court next week in connection with an election petition filed against her by Hillary Kiyaga, also known as Hilderman.
In a ruling delivered on April 2, 2026, acting Judge Deepa Verma directed that Kyambadde be served through alternative means after attempts to reach her physically failed.
The application was filed by Hillary Kiyaga , who told the court that despite several attempts to serve Kyambadde at her known residence and workplace in Mpigi District, she could not be located. Kiyaga further stated that Kyambadde declined to reveal her location when contacted by phone.
Justice Verma approved the application and permitted substituted service. She ordered that the court documents be published in newspapers, pinned on the High Court notice board in Mpigi, and sent to Kyambadde via her known WhatsApp number.
The judge then instructed Kyambadde to appear before court on April 13, 2026, to respond to the petition. The costs of the application will be determined in the main case.
Kyambadde, who served as Mawokota North MP for two terms from 2011 to 2021, was defeated in the 2021 general elections by musician-turned-politician Hilderman. Notably, Hilderman had previously been a key campaign mobilizer for Kyambadde during her earlier terms.
Running on the National Unity Platform (NUP) ticket, Hilderman won decisively in 2021 and became one of the constituency’s most vocal legislators, especially on issues of copyright and neighboring rights in Parliament.
In the recently concluded elections, Kyambadde staged a political comeback, narrowly defeating Hilderman. Hilderman has since challenged the outcome in court, alleging that the election was improperly conducted.
