Ugandan musicians Dax Vibez and Mikie Wine, both younger brothers to opposition leader Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu (Bobi Wine), were reportedly arrested and detained by police in Jinja on Sunday night.
The reasons behind their arrest remain unclear, and authorities have yet to release an official statement.
A video circulating on social media shows the visibly shaken artists confronting uniformed officers.
In the footage, Dax Vibez is heard asking, “Afande, why did you slap me?”—suggesting physical altercations may have occurred during their arrest.
Both singers can be heard accusing the police of beating them without provocation.
The incident has sparked concern online, with supporters and fans questioning the circumstances surrounding the arrest and the apparent use of force.
As of now, neither the Uganda Police Force nor local authorities in Jinja have issued a formal explanation.
The arrests come shortly after controversy surrounding Dax Vibez’s concert, which was scheduled to take place at Hotel Africana but was abruptly canceled for undisclosed reasons.
The artist was later forced to rebrand the event and relocate it to a new venue.
Sources close to the matter suggest the cancellation may have been politically motivated.
Reports indicate that during a recent performance at Da Villa, Bobi Wine made a brief appearance and was handed a microphone to greet fans an act that may have triggered concern from authorities and venue management.
