Preparations are in high gear for the 11th coronation anniversary of His Majesty William Wilberforce Gabula Nadiope Kadhumbula IV, the Kyabazinga of Busoga, set to take place on September 13, 2025, at the Kingdom headquarters in Bugembe.
A 14-member committee has been unveiled to spearhead the event, according to a letter issued by Busoga Prime Minister, Dr. Joseph Muvawala Nsekere. The team will be led by Mr. Richard Mafumo, the Cultural Minister, with Mr. Tibalira Martin serving as deputy.
Dr. Muvawala stressed the importance of the anniversary, pledging his office’s direct supervision to guarantee its success.
“On Saturday, 13th September 2025, the Kyabazinga of Busoga and his subjects all over the world will celebrate his coronation anniversary at the Kingdom headquarters in Bugembe, Jinja City,” his letter stated.
The celebration will run under the theme: “A Malaria-Free Busoga for Generations to Come.” To this end, the Kingdom has entered into a partnership with the Ministry of Health and the Busoga Health Forum, with activities targeting malaria elimination through indoor spraying, larval source management, and vaccination drives.
For coordination, Hon. Milly Babirye Babalanda, Minister for the Presidency, has been tasked with engaging the central government, while Jinja City Mayor, Mr. Alton Kasolo Peter Okocha, will handle local government participation. Ms. Nantale Nasabu, Education Minister, will coordinate religious institutions and schools.
Other committee members include Andrew Ntange (protocol and security), Ivan Kirya (finance), Walusimbi Haruna (entertainment), Yafesi Bairukireiki (youth and institutions), and Ibanda Mugabi (media).
The grand celebration is expected to attract thousands of subjects, cultural leaders, and dignitaries, further affirming Busoga’s cultural identity under the reign of Kyabazinga Gabula IV.
