The People’s Republic of China has donated military aid worth $10 million (shs36 billion) to the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF), further cementing the growing military ties between the two nations.
The donation, which includes an assortment of military equipment, was officially handed over during a ceremony attended by senior officials from both Uganda and China.
The gesture is seen as a significant boost to the operational capacity of the UPDF and a strong indicator of deepening bilateral relations.
Col Chris Magezi, the Military assistant to CDF Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba welcomed the donation and praised China’s continued support to Uganda’s defence sector.
“The gesture by the Chinese government further strengthens and deepens bilateral military cooperation between the two countries,” Magezi said. “Thank you, China!”
