Speaking after the countrywide polls, Emmanuel Dombo, the party’s Director for Information and Publicity, congratulated the NRM fraternity for the peaceful and successful conduct of the primaries. He urged winners to celebrate respectfully and show humility toward their opponents.
“We wish to congratulate the winners and kindly request them to celebrate with decorum and respect the people they competed with. This will help us to maintain unity within the party,” Dombo said.
Dombo reaffirmed the party’s commitment to transparency and fairness, encouraging any aggrieved members to present their grievances to the official election tribunal, which will assess all petitions based on evidence and merit.
“To those who feel there was injustice, the party has established an election tribunal to consider any petition,” he noted.
At the same time, he encouraged reconciliation as an alternative means of resolving disputes, saying the party welcomes any efforts to mend divisions through dialogue.
“If you feel that reconciliation is possible outside of the tribunal process, we still encourage and welcome you. What matters most is unity as we move forward.”
He lauded President Yoweri Museveni, the NRM national chairman, for his leadership and support during the election process, as well as Secretary General Richard Todwong for steering the primaries to a successful conclusion.
Looking ahead to the general elections, Dombo emphasized the need for a united front within the NRM and urged members to prioritize the broader interests of the party and country.
“I therefore call upon you that as you reflect on personal benefit, focus on the general good of the NRM and Uganda. United we shall stand, but divided we fall,” he said.
“The NRM is being built, and its foundation enhanced. Let us all work together to strengthen it.”
The remarks come as the NRM prepares to shift from internal processes to a national campaign strategy in the run-up to 2026, with unity and internal cohesion seen as critical to securing electoral success.
