MultiChoice Uganda has introduced “Elder’s Classroom,” a brand-new comedy series set to air on Pearl Magic Prime, aiming to bring a fresh wave of entertainment to Ugandan screens.
The series, which replaces the popular Hotel Mara in the Friday night lineup, stars a mix of familiar faces and new talent and promises audiences a unique blend of humor and life lessons.
“Elder’s Classroom” follows the story of Mzee Balikuddembe, a kind-hearted elder who opens his home to Sekimpi, the son of his late best friend.
Driven to honor his father’s legacy, Sekimpi turns Mzee’s house into an unconventional school for the elderly and those less fortunate. However, his altruistic intentions are clouded by a tumultuous past involving gambling debts, sparking a series of comedic events that will keep viewers engaged and amused.
A notable highlight of the series is the appearance of the late Kato Lubwama, playing Mr. Dodo in one of his final on-screen performances. This nostalgic inclusion has been met with enthusiasm, as Lubwama’s legacy as a beloved comedian and cultural figure resonates strongly with Ugandan audiences.
The series is directed and produced by Saabwe Conrad Lubwama, Kato Lubwama’s son, whose work on “Elder’s Classroom” reflects his father’s comedic spirit while bringing fresh storytelling to Ugandan television.
Rinaldi Jamugisa, PR and Communications Manager at MultiChoice Uganda, expressed enthusiasm for the show’s launch, emphasizing its significance in connecting with Ugandan audiences.
