he Electoral Commission (EC) has taken its voter education and outreach campaign to the 31st National Agricultural Show, currently underway at the Agricultural Showgrounds in Jinja City.
The week-long exhibition, which runs until 5th July 2025, has attracted thousands of Ugandans from across the country. For the EC, it presents an opportunity to bring electoral information and services closer to the public in an informal, interactive environment.
The EC team at the show is led by Mr. Deo Natukunda, the Regional Election Officer for the Kira Region, alongside technical staff from both the Commission’s headquarters and the Kira electoral office.
At the Commission’s exhibition stall, visitors are being guided through key aspects of the electoral roadmap ahead of the 2025/2026 General Elections.
Special emphasis is being placed on the ongoing electoral activities for Special Interest Groups (SIGs), which include Youth, Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), Workers, Older Persons, and members of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF).
The Commission is also using the occasion to promote civic responsibility and underscore the importance of active participation in democratic processes. Citizens are encouraged to ask questions, seek clarifications, and access voter education materials available at the stall.
“This outreach is part of our broader mission to ensure transparency, inclusion, and access to electoral information for all Ugandans—wherever they are,” said a representative from the Commission.
The EC’s presence at the show is part of its continued effort to demystify electoral processes and build trust through consistent engagement, particularly in non-traditional and rural settings.
