Several parts of Kampala South, including Makindye, Kibuye, and Wankulukuku, will experience a planned power shutdown tomorrow, Friday, November 14, 2025, the Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited (UEDCL) has announced.
According to UEDCL, the outage — scheduled from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. — will enable the company’s technical team to install a new transformer at the Kampala South Substation as part of efforts to improve electricity supply in the area.

“This shutdown is to enable our technical team to safely install a new transformer which will boost the capacity of the substation and improve power supply reliability in the areas it serves,” Kiiza said.
The planned outage will also affect several neighboring areas, including Kigo, Salaama, Lukuli, Kizungu, Kanaba, Ziranumbu, Kibira, Buggu, Kabuma, Busabala, Gangu, Masajja, Kategula, Nsombabyuma, Kiyumba, Kiruddu, Najjanankumbi, Kifampa, Kulekaana, Luwafu, Bukejje, Nakinyuguzi, Kyamula, Lwasa, Nsambu, Mubarak Stage, Nyanama, Kabowa, and Simbwe.
