The National Unity Platform (NUP) is set to officially launch its fundraising drive for the upcoming 2025/2026 general election campaign today 7, July at the party’s headquarters in Makerere Kavule.
Announcing the development via his official X (formerly Twitter) account, NUP party president Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, also known as Bobi Wine, said the move follows growing public interest from Ugandans who wish to contribute to the party’s mission.
“Over the past few years, many people have reached out asking how they can contribute financially and be part of our campaign to save motherland,” Bobi Wine wrote. “Our answer has always been that we would do that at an opportune time when there is great need.”
With the 2026 elections fast approaching, Bobi Wine emphasized that the time has come for collective action and support.
“As we approach the 2026 election, we shall need resources to campaign, support our candidates and run many activities,” he said, calling on supporters to attend the launch. “Join us tomorrow at the @NUP_Ug Headquarters as we launch the Fundraising Drive for our Election Campaign, 2025/2026.”
The fundraising campaign is expected to mobilize financial support from Ugandans both at home and in the diaspora to fuel the party’s electoral agenda, including candidate nominations, voter mobilization, and public engagement efforts.
NUP, which emerged as the main opposition party in the 2021 elections, continues to position itself as the leading challenger to President Museveni’s long-standing rule.
The fundraising initiative for election campaigns is not new to the National Unity Platform (NUP).
During the last general elections, the party also received significant financial support from its members and well-wishers, particularly those in the diaspora.
