The Kabale Chief Magistrate’s Court has granted bail to Jolly Jackline Tukamushaba, the Western Region Deputy President of the National Unity Platform (NUP).
Tukamushaba was released on a cash bail of Shs1 million, while each of her four sureties was bonded at Shs5 million, non-cash.
She was last week arraigned before Chief Magistrate Derrick Byamugisha and charged with incitement to violence. She pleaded not guilty and was remanded to Ndorwa Government Prison.
The case was adjourned to February 24, 2026 for mention and further directions as state investigations continue.
Tukamushaba was the NUP flag bearer for the Rukiga District Woman Member of Parliament seat in the last election but lost to NRM’s Sylvia Arinaitwe.
She had been among the three NUP deputy presidents in detention. With her release on bail, two remain in prison, Muhammad Muwanga Kivumbi, the party’s deputy president for Buganda, who is facing terrorism charges, and Lina Zedriga, the deputy president for Northern Uganda, who is also battling incitement charges.
