President Museveni has sounded a stern warning to the organisers of next week’s planned anti-corruption march to drop the idea of else they might face it rough.
Addressing the country on matters of national importance on Saturday, the president said it nonsensical for some people to be hellbent on causing chaos where there is peace.
“Some elements, especially in opposition are working with foreigners to ferment chaos in Uganda with illegal and inconsiderate processions. They should check themselves or we will have no alternative but to check them,” Museveni said.
The organisers of the planned march say they want to show discontent at the corruption in Parliament including extravagance.
However, addressing the nation, the president said whereas wealth creators are working hard to ensure the country produces food, there is a group of people who want to negate these gains.
He said they wont be allowed.
“We are busy producing wealth and you here want to disturb us! You are playing with fire. We cant allow you to disturb us. When you hear people talking of demonstrations, when you do it in a place like Kampala where people are selling on the roadside, are you going to step in their products? You are playing. Don’t have such ideas in your head,” Museveni said.
He advised that those who want to demonstrate can make use of Kololo independence grounds.
“There was a time when Nakalema organised us and we walked to Kololo talking about corruption and if you want contact her for a day when there is no traffic and go to Kololo. Don’t be tempted to bring chaos and step on people’s business. We are wealth creators. We have defended the direction of Uganda’s revolutionary path and we shall defend it more, even now.”
