Police on Tuesday evening arrested at least 10 NRM Entrepreneurs League delegates at Kololo Independence Grounds after protests erupted over the suspension of their elections.
The arrests followed chaotic scenes in which disgruntled delegates stormed the grounds, accusing the party leadership of delaying polls despite assurances that they would be held.
Security swiftly intervened, with police and military personnel deployed to restore order.
The Entrepreneurs League elections had been suspended on Monday after a directive from President Yoweri Museveni, the NRM National Chairman, amid mounting allegations of voter bribery and irregularities.
But on Tuesday, frustrated delegates claimed the delays were becoming costly, saying the facilitation money for their accommodation was running out.
Their protests prompted police to pick up at least ten individuals for allegedly disrupting the process.
Speaking after calm was restored, NRM Electoral Commission chairperson Dr. Tanga Odoi assured delegates that the elections would proceed as planned and urged discipline.
