Police in Entebbe have recovered a pistol during an intelligence-led operation conducted across parts of Wakiso District, following public concerns about illegal firearms in the area.
The operation, carried out on April 11, 2026, targeted areas of Wamala, Buzzi, Lutaba, and Ssisa Village.
Security teams specifically raided houses under construction in Hossana Estate and Jomayi Estate, as well as known gambling spots.
According to Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Rachael Kawala, the crackdown was prompted by reports from the public about a suspect believed to be in possession of an illegal gun.
“Police in Entebbe have successfully recovered a pistol during an intelligence-led operation conducted on 11th April 2026. The operation targeted houses under construction in Hossana Estate and Jomayi Estate, as well as known gambling points,” she said.
She added that 16 suspects were arrested during the operation, and one of them, identified as Ronald Segujja, later led officers to the recovery of the firearm.
“All suspects are currently in police custody and will be produced before court in due course,” Kawala stated.
The recovered pistol has since been secured as an exhibit as investigations continue.
