Kansai Plascon Uganda has officially donated paint to the Tooro Kingdom to support the refurbishment of the Royal Palace ahead of the 30th Coronation Anniversary of His Majesty, the Omukama of Tooro.
The donation — covering both interior and exterior surfaces of the palace spanning more than 8,500 square meters — is intended to restore the historic residence to its regal splendor in time for the landmark celebration set for September 12, 2025.
The handover ceremony took place at the Palace Grounds, led by Kansai Plascon Uganda’s Managing Director, Mr. Santosh Gumte. He was joined by senior executives including Mr. Daniel Kayongo, Head of Marketing, and Mr. Kato Moses, Head of Sales.
Receiving the donation on behalf of the Tooro Kingdom were Prime Minister Calvin Armstrong Rwomiire and Deputy Prime Minister Henry Basaliza.
“Such partnerships create real impact and meaningful change. We are grateful to Plascon for this generous initiative as we prepare for the coronation,” said Prime Minister Rwomiire. “This is not our first collaboration — Plascon has been a loyal partner, including support for the Amasaza Cup, which has strengthened our community engagements.”
He extended a formal invitation to the public for the coronation festivities, adding, “The palace, freshly painted and restored to its majestic glory, will be a sight to behold.”
Mr. Gumte reaffirmed Plascon’s long-standing commitment to cultural institutions and community development.
“We are proud to be the official paint partner of the Tooro Kingdom,” he said. “This relationship is one we treasure deeply — I’ve even been honored with an Empaako, Ateenyi. Supporting cultural, educational, and religious institutions is a vital part of our ESG agenda and a way of giving back to the communities that support us.”
