The Minister of Education and Sports, Janet Museveni, who also serves as Uganda’s First Lady, is expected to officially release the 2025 Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) results today, January 30, at State House, Nakasero.
The release, scheduled for 11:00 a.m., marks a significant milestone for Primary Seven candidates preparing to transition to secondary school.
A total of 817,885 candidates who sat for the 2025 PLE will have their results announced by the Executive Director of the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB), Dan Odongo. The examinations were conducted across 16,140 centres nationwide.
Of the total candidates, 389,529 (48%) are boys, while 428,356 (52%) are girls, continuing the trend of higher female participation at the primary level. Candidates under the Universal Primary Education (UPE) programme account for 522,039 learners (64%), while 295,846 candidates (36%) were privately sponsored.
The 2025 PLE cohort also includes 61 inmates from Upper Prison School Luzira—54 males and 7 females—highlighting ongoing efforts to extend education opportunities to all learners, regardless of circumstance.
The nation now awaits the results, which will shape the next academic journey for hundreds of thousands of learners.
