Police in Kampala have arrested a Congolese national for stage-managing an incident capturing a panga attack.
The video making rounds on social media showed a man armed with a panga threatening customers at a restaurant.
Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson Patrick Onyango said police investigations have found out that the incident was a poorly planned comedy skit staged at Munyonyo chez Boss Mutoto.
“A Congolese national, Tokosi Ngoli, and a TikToker were involved in creating content without informing all customers. Ngoli was arrested, charged with being armed in public, and his case file was forwarded to the State Attorney,” Onyango said.
“Police advise the public that the video does not depict a real crime and urge caution when sharing and consuming content online.”
