Police in Kampala have kicked off a manhunt for a man who stole a pistol from a vehicle which was parked at a restaurant in Kampala.
Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, Patrick Onyango said Mwase Birali, 42, stole the pistol from a car which was parked at Café Javas near City Oil Petrol Station in Kamwokya, a Kampala suburb.
“ Birali allegedly stole a pistol and other properties from City Oil Petrol Station in Kamwokya. The incident was reported at Kira Road Police Division, and investigations are underway,”Onyango said.
He said Birali is believed to be hiding in the Kamwokya area.
“Police urge anyone with information about his whereabouts to come forward and share it confidentially with the nearest police station.”
While police have not given much details about the incident, it is suspected that the pistol was stolen as the owner left it in vehicle as he went into the restaurant to have a snack.
