Joint security teams comprising the Police and the Army carried out a coordinated operation that disrupted several criminal cells in Pece Prisons Cell, Kyenjere, and surrounding areas in .
The operation, which targeted suspected hotspots of organized crime, led to the arrest of several individuals linked to criminal activities.
The suspects have been identified as Desmon Ochola, Emma Okot , and another individual known only by the nickname “24.”
They are currently being held at Gulu City East Policing Division.
According to the Aswa-Gulu Regional Police Spokesperson, David Ongom Mudong, the operation was aimed at dismantling criminal networks that have been operating in the area.
“On 24th March 2026, joint security teams comprising the Police and the Army conducted a well-coordinated operation that successfully disrupted several criminal cells operating within Pece Prisons Cell, Kyenjere, and the surrounding areas,” Ongom said.
He added that more suspects are still being pursued, noting that efforts to apprehend those still at large are ongoing.
During the operation, security recovered several items believed to have been used in criminal activities.
These include 10 rounds of ammunition, a pair of police uniforms, bunches of keys, four pangas, four knives, housebreaking implements, four large padlocks, mattresses, and two television sets.
Police say the recovered items will serve as key evidence in ongoing investigations.
“We remain committed to ensuring the safety and security of the public and urge members of the community to continue cooperating by providing any information that may aid in the arrest of the remaining suspects,” Ongom added.
Authorities have reassured residents of continued operations to eliminate criminal elements and restore security in the area.
