Two private security guards were killed in cold blood during a violent robbery at Chard Energy petrol station along Katosi Road in Mukono district.
The attack, which took place at around 4:00 AM on Thursday morning, saw two unidentified armed assailants storm the station and launch a deadly assault on the guards on duty.
“The two guards, Senabulya Deo, 50, and Onyaiti Joseph, 25, were struck with a blunt object, leading to their immediate death at the scene,” said Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson SSP Patrick Onyango.
According to police, the attackers made off with the guards’ firearm loaded with five rounds of ammunition before turning their attention to the pump attendants.
In the chaos, they robbed Tessa Jovita, 23, and Domanye Kevin, 22, of mobile phones and approximately shs3 million in cash.
“The firearm was later recovered near the railway line and has been submitted as part of the ongoing forensic review,” Onyango added.
