UBA Foundation, through its Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives, has reinforced its commitment to youth empowerment and education with an outreach programme at Mbale Comprehensive High School.
The UBA Uganda team, led by Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications Hoziana Niyonsaba Ssemanda, alongside Head of Institutional Banking Charity Ngabirano and Mbale Branch Manager Ivan Mwima, visited the school to support learners with educational materials and mentorship.
During the visit, the Foundation donated literature books to more than 600 students in a bid to promote a reading culture in the region. In line with the celebration of Women’s Month, sanitary pads were also distributed to over 300 girls to support menstrual health and ensure uninterrupted learning.
The initiative also featured mentorship and counselling sessions, with the UBA team sharing personal experiences to motivate students to remain focused on their studies and overcome challenges.
The school’s Head Teacher, Mabonga John Francis, welcomed the initiative and commended UBA for its continued support towards students’ welfare and education.
Speaking during the outreach, Ssemanda said the programme reflects UBA’s broader commitment to empowering young people through education and holistic support.
“Our goal is to inspire and equip young people with the tools they need to succeed, while addressing barriers that may hinder their education, especially for the girl child,” she said.

Ngabirano urged students to remain disciplined and value education as a pathway to a better future.
“Education is a gift that shapes your future. Stay committed, respect those who guide you, and remain focused on your goals,” she advised.
The outreach was positively received by both students and staff, underscoring the importance of corporate involvement in community development.
The initiative forms part of UBA Foundation’s ongoing efforts to promote education, wellbeing, and youth empowerment across Uganda and the wider African continent.
