The Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited (UEDCL) has announced the full restoration of power supply in Mukono and Buikwe Districts following days of intermittent outages.
The recently vandalized 132kV Owen Falls–Mukono North transmission line has been fully energized and restored.
According to the company, engineers from the Uganda Electricity Transmission Company Limited (UETCL) completed the construction of a temporary transmission line, paving the way for stable power supply to both domestic and industrial consumers in the affected areas.
This temporary solution will remain in place as reconstruction of the vandalized pylons continues.
UEDCL said the completion of the line has allowed electricity services to return to normal, bringing relief to thousands of homes and factories that had been grappling with disruptions.
Jonan Kiiza, the Head Corporate and Stakeholder Affairs at UEDCL, said the restoration marks a significant step in normalizing services for communities and industries in the two districts.
“Power supply in Mukono and Buikwe has been fully restored following UETCL’s completion of a temporary power line. This intervention has enabled us to restore stable supply to all our domestic and industrial customers,” Kiiza said.
He extended appreciation to customers for their patience and cooperation during the outage period.
“We sincerely thank our customers for their patience. We also continue to urge the public to join the Government of Uganda in the fight against vandalism of electricity infrastructure,” Kiiza noted.
UEDCL further encouraged members of the public to report any illegal activities on the electricity network to the nearest police station, local authorities, or through its toll-free customer service lines: 0800203088, 08002852850, and 0800385385
