Uganda is set to take center stage at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan, on October 8, 2025, with a grand National Day celebration that will blend business, culture, and diplomacy.
The event is expected to highlight Uganda’s transformation journey, economic potential, and growing partnership with Japan and the wider international community.
Running under the global theme “Designing Future Society for Our Lives,” Expo 2025 has been underway since April and will close on October 13, 2025.
Uganda’s Pavilion, located in Commons A has already attracted significant attention from visitors for its dynamic presentation of the country’s industrialization, export promotion, investment potential, and cultural diversity.
Uganda’s delegation will be led by the Robinah Nabbanja, Prime Minister of the Republic of Uganda, and will include senior government officials, diplomats, and representatives from the private sector.
The country’s participation is being coordinated by the Uganda Free Zones and Export Promotions Authority (UFZEPA) in partnership with the Embassy of Uganda in Japan.
Ahead of National Day, the delegation will engage the Osaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry on October 7, a strategic dialogue aimed at deepening trade and investment ties while fostering business-to-business collaboration between Ugandan and Japanese enterprises.
The official National Day celebrations will take place on October 8 at the Expo’s National Day Hall, featuring remarks from Prime Minister Nabbanja and Japanese officials.
Cultural performances will showcase Uganda’s vibrant traditions and artistic talent, followed by an official tour of both the Japan and Uganda pavilions.
The day will culminate with a networking dinner at the Expo Guest House, offering a platform for investors and policymakers to connect and explore new areas of cooperation.
In a significant follow-up to the Expo, Prime Minister Nabbanja will hold a bilateral meeting with the Prime Minister of Japan on October 9 in Tokyo, marking a milestone engagement aimed at strengthening collaboration in trade, investment, and development.
Uganda’s participation at the Expo is guided by the sub-theme “Empowering Lives,” which mirrors the nation’s commitment to inclusive and sustainable growth as envisioned in Vision 2040 and the National Development Plan IV (NDP IV).
According to Mr. Hez Kimoomi Alinda, Executive Director of UFZEPA, Expo 2025 presents a vital opportunity for Uganda to position itself as a strong and forward-looking partner on the global stage.
“Through National Day, Uganda will highlight its development priorities, share its cultural heritage, and demonstrate its readiness to work with partners to achieve mutual growth and prosperity,” he said.
Beyond a showcase, Uganda’s National Day at Expo 2025 is poised to be a statement of confidence a celebration of national identity, economic resilience, and strategic ambition as the country continues to position itself as a competitive, export-led economy and a reliable international partner.
