Police have arrested 100 suspects in a series of operations targeting criminal activities across the city.
According to SP Rachael Kawala, the Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, the operations focused on known black spots where youth engage in theft, snatching of mobile phones and bags, and stealing vehicle parts from motorists held in traffic.
“The operations were conducted in areas including Nakasero, Entebbe Road, Nasser Road, behind Church House, Railway Grounds, Punjani, the Electoral Commission area, and Mukwano,” SP Kawala said.
According to police, on 1 February 2026, in aseparate joint operation in Kigombya, Mukono Central Division, Mukono District, they arrested 11 suspects involved in marijuana smoking, robbery, and waylaying members of the public.
All suspects from both operations are expected to appear before court today 2 February
“These disruptive operations are part of our continued efforts to dismantle criminal networks and make our communities safer,” SP Kawala added.
