“Our teams acted on credible intelligence and arrested six individuals who were found with counterfeit US dollars, suspected to be worth $300,000, stacked in bundles of $100,000 each,” Rusoke said.
The suspects have been identified as Minike Do, Dudu Mumbere Asiha, Akwiza Dudu Mitira, Shadrack Kaputara, Jean Pierre Hassan, and Musa Ahmed. Police also recovered 12 rolled sticks of marijuana from their possession.
“All the suspects are currently in our custody. We will share photos of the exhibits and provide further details as investigations continue,” Rusoke added.
Authorities are urging the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious financial activities to law enforcement. The investigation into the source and distribution network of the counterfeit currency is ongoing.
