President Museveni is today, Monday, June 16, kicking off his tour of the Greater Mpigi region as part of his ongoing nationwide assessment of the Parish Development Model (PDM) and other key wealth creation initiatives.
In a message posted Monday evening on his official X account, the President confirmed he would be spending the week in the area to evaluate the progress of the PDM.
“Fellow Ugandans, especially the Bazzukulu. Greetings. I will be in Greater Mpigi this week to assess the progress of the Parish Development Model,” he wrote.
This visit is part of a broader government strategy to intensify rural transformation efforts through initiatives like the PDM and Operation Wealth Creation.
These programs aim to uplift household incomes by supporting communities to engage in sustainable income-generating activities.
President Museveni’s nationwide tour has so far taken him to various regions, including Acholi, Lango, Teso, Karamoja, Bugisu, Busoga, Bukedi, Kigezi, Ankole, Bunyoro, and West Nile. His current stop in Greater Mpigi marks the beginning of his engagements in the Central Region (Buganda).
At each stop, the President has consistently pledged to increase funding for wealth creation programs, basing his commitments on insights gathered from grassroots interactions.
During recent PDM assessments, President Museveni has repeatedly urged Ugandans to embrace commercial agriculture with a strategic approach.
He has promoted the “Four-Acre Model,” advising families to allocate: One acre for coffee, One acre for fruits, One acre for pasture for dairy cows and One acre for food crops.
According to the President, this model offers a practical pathway for rural households to transition from subsistence farming to sustainable, income-generating agriculture.
